Sustaining Praise As a Lifestyle – Pst Lanre Oluseye

Text: Habakkuk 3:17-19

In 1 Samuel 13 we see that people can be put in bondage without the captors using a sword or spear. This happened in the case of the Philistines and the Israelites. All the Philistines did was put a strategy in place such that they were no blacksmiths in Israel, making it impossible for the Israelites to make tools for themselves.

Their problem got worse by bad leadership. There were only 2 swords left in Israel, and they were with Saul and Jonathan — The king and his son. (Weak leadership will always deny the people of tools)

Their enemies regulated these things so that the Israelites could not be empowered to fight or win a battle.

Again, the Philistines understood that there is another dimension to winning battles, they knew from history that the Israelites conquered Jericho without using physical weapons but with praise.

So, the Philistines had to subjugate the Israelites spiritually too. After successfully making sure they do not have enough physical weapons of war, in 1 Samuel 17:1 The Philistines camped in Judah (the place of their praise).

Their enemy got to Judah first and camped in the place of their strength.

The enemy stays in the place of your highest praise because he knows that praise is your biggest weapon. The devil is too strategic to be careless. Anybody that can take your praise has already gotten the upper hand.
