Topic: Safe Spaces — When the butterflies stop fluttering (2)
Text: Genesis 2:24 (NKJV & KJV)
The Bible clearly states that “if any man be in Christ,” old things are passed away. In Christ, you are justified. When God looks at you, He sees Christ without blemish. In you, Christ is glorified. Knowing that you have Christ in you empowers you and gives you an advantage to fix anything, including your marriage.
Marriage is so important that the first miracle Jesus performed was at a wedding. Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV) encourages us to settle in our hearts that God is with us from the beginning and remains with us to the end. When the wine runs out in your marriage and things become uninteresting, you need to:
1. Improve your likability: Cultivate an attitude of being likable and flexible towards your partner.
2. Increase your desirability: Do things that make you desirable to your spouse.
3. Don’t allow your spouse to have “buyer’s remorse”: Don’t give your spouse reasons to question the value they saw in you when both of you first met.
Critical factors to consider when there’s no vibrancy in your marriage:
A good marriage is a union of two servants committed to serving one another. It is a union of people ready to seek each other’s highest good. Don’t wait for your marriage to break down before you address issues. Whatever is a significant issue for your spouse will eventually become an issue for you. Fix the simple things!
To keep the butterflies fluttering in your marriage, it’s important to recognize each other’s needs.
What women need:
1. She needs to know that her needs and wants will be met sacrificially. Women need to trust that you will do all that is within your power and control to meet their need.
2. She needs open and honest communication.
3. She needs soft, non-sexual touches.
What men need:
1. He needs to know that he is honored in his home. It is a pitiable sight to see a man stripped of his dignity.
2. He wants his wife to be his friend.
3. He needs his sexual needs met regularly and energetically.
4. He wants to be pursued and desired also.
Be willing to work together to keep the butterflies fluttering.
