Topic: Guaranteed Triumph
Texts: I Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV), II Corinthians 2:14 (TPT), Romans 8:28-39 (TPT, KJV)
I’m more than a conqueror, not because of what I have done, but because of His love. There are things that have been freely given to us by reason of God’s love.
The Gratitude Challenge: Who should be the most grateful – The man who narrowly survived a ghastly motor accident after spending months in the hospital, healing from injuries; another who escaped the same accident only with minor bruises; one who came out of the same accident without a scratch on his body; or the one who did not experience the accident at all? Usually, the one who almost died is the most grateful because he came close to death, whereas the one who did not experience the accident at all should be the most thankful.
We are often blinded and enamored by the things we pursue so much that we take God’s daily mercies for granted. We ought to give God better praise for the things He delivered us from, that we knew nothing about.
A. H. Benjamin’s children’s story, ‘It Could Have Been Worse’ depicts the reality that most of the things we complain about are actually tools in God’s hands for our deliverance. The things we call unlucky are often blessings in disguise.
Romans 8:28 – All things, irrespective of how they come, work together, not to destroy but to bring us good. The key points in this verse are;
1. The purposes of God. Isaiah 55:8-11 (NKJV, TPT), Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) – God’s purposes cannot go unfulfilled. God will orchestrate events, move things, displace people, etc just to accomplish his purposes, as is seen in the experiences of Joseph and Moses. God’s purposes are more powerful than any challenge we may have. The only person who can truncate God’s purpose for your life is you, not the devil, nor life’s troubles. God’s plans will ultimately be fulfilled even when you back out of it – He will use someone else to accomplish His will. To enjoy guaranteed triumph, ensure that everything you do this year is in accordance with God’s will and purpose. Move by divine direction and guidance, not by trial and error. Stay in his purpose even when things seem not to be adding up. Whatever you may be going through is part of the process of God’s purpose for your life, and will eventually work together for your good.
2. Your love for God – This critical ingredient ties everything together. It is what compels you to follow the purposes of God. John 14:15 (NKJV) – The proof of our love for God is that we obey Him. Our love for God must exceed lip service and must be practically demonstrated in our actions. God must be our number one and our only choice. We must be willing to make sacrifices and spend time with God and obey what He commands.
3. The knowledge of what God has in store for you. I Corinthians 2:9,10 (NKJV) -Get into the place of revelation so you can access and partake of what is rightfully yours. Your knowledge of God must go beyond what your pastor said, or the theories and experiences of other people. Habakkuk 2:1 (NKJV) – You must hear God for yourself. Go beyond what God said in the past and hear what God is saying now. The knowledge of God is accessible, the challenge is in our willingness to seek Him (Jeremiah 29:13).
Things You Must Know for Yourself this Year:
– This year you must know your Word – what God is saying to you per time. Your ears must be attentive to God’s voice.
– You must know what God’s purpose for your life is and align with it.
– You must know and understand the love of God and that at the end of everything, you will win (Romans 8:28).
– You must understand that everything is working together for your good. The situation you’re grapling with is part of the ingredients God is using to cook your victory and the future He has designed for you. Without the process you cannot get the promise. II Corinthians 4:6 – Everything you go through will end in your guaranteed triumph.
Romans 8:32,35 – God first transferred to us the perfect righteousness of Jesus and declared us ‘not guilty’. No accusation can stand against us. Therefore there’s nothing the devil can do to take away what God has designed for you to have this year. Since everything is working together for your good, and nothing can separate you from the guaranteed love of God which supercedes and exceeds every other thing, you can meet every situation with thanksgiving. II Corinthians 2:14 – Thank God in advance because He has guaranteed your triumph. Ephesians 2:6 – God puts us in a place where we share in his victories and enjoy his triumph.
Romans 8:37-39 – In Christ we are more than conquerors for He already conquered all the things that conquered us before now. He has freely given us all things (Romans 8:32).
This year we meet every situation with thanksgiving because we have guaranteed triumph.
