As good and faithful stewards, we must understand that God owns everything, including our finances. We must come to the understanding that there’s nothing we have that we did not receive. In Matthew 25:27, the master rebukes the servant who had one talent for not putting the money in the bank to earn interest. The master orders that the single talent be taken away from the servant and given to another who was a better steward. Resources are constantly redistributed. If you will be a good steward of the resources that God has put in your hands, you must learn;
1. Contentment (1 Timothy 6:6 NKJV). Godliness with contentment is great gain. Contentment is not the same as lack of ambition. Ambition is necessary to pursue vision. Contentment means you understand where you are per time, and you are willing to enjoy that state of life at that time. It is also the willingness to build and follow the process. This is not to say you shouldn’t be motivated, or be inspired to achieve more. It means you should be content with what your hands can produce and enjoy it. Lack of contentment is primarily the reason there’s so much nuisance in the society today. The trigger for this lack of contentment is unbridled appetite.
2. Ability to manage your appetite. Appetite is what fuels desire. One of the reasons, marriages are failing is because the individuals in the marriage exposes themselves to appetite that their partner can’t supply. Whatever you have a foretaste for, you develop a taste for.
3. You must also learn how to manage tension and thrive in a hostile environment. Life has the tendency to put you in circumstances where you question your love for the people you say you love, or in tensed situations where you have to deal with toxic people. Always remember, “If God be for you, who can be against you”. You cannot measure God’s love for you by the ease in your life. Bad things happen to good people. Good in life is not a reward of service to God. Service to God has eternal value. Serve regardless!
