Topic: No More Excuses
Text: Mark 16:15-20 (NKJV) & Acts 10;1-6 & 44-45 (NKJV)
The value of a man’s soul is greater than the whole world. It is so great that even if there were only one man on earth, Jesus would still die for mankind. One of the reasons we don’t witness for Christ is because we always have excuses. When the great commandment to preach the gospel was given, Jesus did not assign this task to a select few, but to all who believed in His name.
Excuses are the tools of the incompetent, monuments of nothingness, and those who use them are not wise. These excuses may appear reasonable, but it doesn’t change the fact that they are still excuses.
One of the many excuses believers have when it comes to evangelizing is:
1. The excuse of not knowing how to preach: The commandment Jesus gave to the disciples was not to preach the Bible, it was that they should preach the gospel, i.e., the good news that you have experienced (Acts 1:8 NKJV), not the Bible. However, it is important for you to be fortified with the scriptures as you go out to spread the fire (evangelize). Let your gospel be your witness of Jesus. Your witness of Jesus is not for you to keep to yourself but to go out and share it with others (1 John 1:1-2 NKJV). Share the transformative power of God you have encountered. That is your gospel!
2. The excuse of feeling ashamed: Shame is one of the tools that the enemy uses to stop us from spreading the fire. The feelings of shame and guilt make us feel inadequate, powerless, and worthless. Paul understood what it meant to be ridiculed for the gospel (Romans 1:16-17, NKJV & TPT).
When you consider the immeasurable power of God and its efficacy, you will find the boldness and confidence to share your experience. This kingdom expansion depends on you. Jesus did not give this mandate to the angels, despite all their abilities; He gave it to man because of how valuable man is to Him. Tell yourself there’s no more excuse not to preach the gospel.
