Ministering: Rev. Lanre Oluseye
Topic: An Essential Requirement
Text: Acts 2:17-20 (NKJV)
The necessity in the last days if you’re going to become everything that God has called you to be, is the outpouring of the Spirit. You need the anointing.
Isaiah 10:27 (KJV, NIV) – The anointing breaks the yoke but this text implies that there are situations where the yoke cannot remain on you, because you are anointed. This is not a deliberate direct action of breaking the yoke rather it is a breaking that occurs as a result of becoming or being. It is an effect of growing in the anointing – becoming fat – where you are not actively praying for something to break, but you grow to the point where it breaks off on its own.
Bad habits, poverty, or any form of yoke will not limit you as long as you remain anointed. Nothing negative sticks on the anointing so stay anointed.
Luke 4:14-17 (NLT) – Jesus was religious; it was his usual practice to go to the synagogue. We should do the same. We have no excuses not to attend church regularly.
Luke 4:18 (NLT) – There is an anointing that comes ‘upon’, which is for the benefit of your world, and not for you. The ‘anointing upon’ is not necessarily an endorsement from God. It allows you to function in the assignment God has given to you, for the benefit of His children, even when your lifestyle is questionable.
I John 2:27 (NLT) – The anointing ‘within’ is for your benefit. It’s for your self-governance/self-regulation. It convicts you of righteousness, builds your character, checks your behavior and strengthens and inspires you.

We need both the ‘anointing upon’ and the ‘anointing within’.
Psalm 89:20-37 (NLT) – David is an epitome of what happens when a man is anointed by God. Regardless of what happens, God’s covenant with you cannot be broken.
The anointing is an essential requirement. This year, you must stay anointed.
You grow in the anointing by:
1. Consecration guided by your assignment – the consciousness of being set apart.
2. Psalm 89:20 – Serving. The anointing is for people who serve. Serve in church, at home, your office, etc. Serve your family members, your community, your generation, etc. Serve with your talent, time, money, wisdom, etc.
Hebrews 12:28 (NKJV) – Not every service is acceptable. The service that is acceptable is done:
1. Hebrews 12:28 (NKJV) – In godly reverence and fear.
2. Psalm 100:2 (NKJV, MSG) – With gladness.
3. II Timothy 1:3 (NKJV) – With a pure conscience. Get rid of bitterness and anger while serving, and check your motives for serving.
Prayer:
Father I need this essential requirement of your anointing. Grant me grace and give me opportunities to serve. Holy Spirit, I make myself available to you. Amen.
