Topic: Gratitude (Thanksgiving)
Text: Psalm 100:1-5 (NKJV)
In the expression of our gratitude, we will not be like the woman with the issue of blood. She kept quiet until Jesus asked, “Who touched Me?” (Matthew 9:20-22).
For all the goodness of God you have received, did you show gratitude, or did you receive and stay quiet about it?
Dimensions of Gratitude
1. The Testimony of Gratitude: This kind of gratitude is expressed when God does something for you, and you begin to talk about it. Your testimony is someone else’s prophecy. It is proof for someone that if God could do it for you, He could do it for them also (Revelation 19:10).
2. The Giving of Gratitude: We do not give to provoke; rather, we freely give in response to what God has done. There’s no way anyone can say God has not done anything for them. Your sleeping and waking up are worth being grateful for. Dancing and praising are not enough to express your gratitude, there is also a place for giving.
3. The Heart of Gratitude: Your testimony and giving must come from a grateful heart. If your testimony and giving do not come from a heart that understands that God is worthy of whatever you give back to Him, He will not receive it. It is very imperative to note that God is not a waiter you can tip. Giving is part of the expression of gratitude.
4. The Lifestyle of Gratitude: Your everyday life should be an expression of gratitude. The lifestyle of gratitude is summarized in the acronym T.H.A.N.K.S.:
T – Time: To live a lifestyle of gratitude, you must put it on schedule.
H – Highlight: Highlight the little acts of kindness people do for you.
A – Acknowledge: Acknowledge the person(s) who showed you kindness. Let them know you appreciate them.
N – Nature: Appreciate nature. The therapeutic properties of nature cannot be overemphasized.
K – Kindness: Dispense kindness. Learn the act of showing kindness to people. Bless another person. The little things count.
S – Savor: Be in the moment and enjoy the beautiful things of life.
When you live a lifestyle of gratitude, you enjoy the blessings and goodness of God in any measure they come.
