Ministering: Pastor Enoabasi Inyang
Topic: Has God breathed on you?
Text: Mark 16:15-20 (NKJV), Acts 1:7-8 (MSG), Mark 6:7-8 (NKJV), Luke 10:1-2 (NKJV), & John 20:22 (NKJV)
In Mark 6:7, Jesus calls His twelve disciples and sent them out in pairs, giving them authority over unclean spirits. Jesus sent them out so that they can demonstrate their knowledge and exercise the authority they had been given. Two are better than one! Do you have someone who sparks your spiritual life? You need someone who will spur you on.
You cannot have authority/power and not use it. Jesus has given us the authority. Put your authority into practice.
The disciples couldn’t heal a certain boy with seizures in the Bible, but they were not afraid to try. Jesus came and healed the boy eventually and told them where they got it wrong.
You must be willing to exercise your faith regardless of the situation. Knowledge must have expression in your life. Acts 1:8 (MSG); your experience must be tied to the revelation of who God is. For every situation, you find yourself in, note that it is God revealing Himself to you.
The disciples needed the Power of the Holy Spirit to carry out the assignment of evangelizing.
Why do we need the Holy Spirit? John 16:14 explains the essence of the Holy Spirit. You need the Holy Spirit to reveal Christ to you. You cannot be an effective witness of Christ except by partnering with the Holy. If you and I catch enough fire, we can cause a spark that would spread to many lives. God is looking for Christians who are on fire! The more we come in contact with the Holy Spirit, the hotter we become. The Holy Spirit enables us to function and be what God wants us to be.
The Holy Spirit not only discerns how we can minister to people but reveals the approach we need to reach out to them. The Holy Spirit is the power arm of Christ (Acts 2:5-8 NKJV). You may not reach out to everyone, but you can spread the fire to someone and keep the cycle going. Let your fire transcend to others. You must work with God to be able to spread the word.
Ask the Lord to breathe upon you because you cannot spread the fire by your strength.
